Caroline and Kagan’s big day at Fergusson Winery in the Yarra Valley
A perfect mix of laughter, love, and a touch of magic
The Wedding Venue
Some weddings have that perfect mix of laughter, love, and a touch of magic—and Caroline and Kagan’s big day at Fergusson Winery in the Yarra Valley was precisely that. With two fabulous wedding coordinators, Sara and Sarah, orchestrating every detail from the couple’s grand arrival to their unforgettable exit, you can relax knowing you’re in the most capable—and stylish—hands.
Nestled among rolling vineyards and towering gum trees, Fergusson Winery is a dream wedding venue. With its rustic charm, award-winning wines, and a backdrop that looks like something out of a romance movie, it was the perfect place for these two to say, “I do.” And on this glorious summer’s day, the setting and ambience was on point.
The Ceremony –
A Burst of Colour & Beauty
The ceremony space was brought to life by the stunning floral artistry of Debbie O’Neill, whose arrangements in bright and pastel pinks added a soft yet vibrant touch to the winery’s natural beauty. The flowers framed the moment beautifully, complementing the venue’s lush green vines and warm wooden tones.
The incredibly talented Allie Claire Creative captured every laugh, tear, and cheeky side glance. With an eye for authenticity and a knack for making couples feel completely at ease, Allie’s photography tells the story of the day in a breathtaking and deeply personal way. The couple and the wedding suppliers for their day received sneak peeks within 48 hours, which is so exciting to share so close to the wedding.
The Details
Their Wedding Attire
Who can miss the spectacular brilliance of Caroline’s dress or Kagan’s stand-out salmon-coloured suit? They both rocked and owned their get-up. Choose something that you feel comfortable and wonderful wearing. The gorgeous dress was from Belle E La Bestia Bridal (I had the pleasure of officiating the ceremony between owner Bella and Jake!) The groom’s suit (and the groomsmen’s) was custom-made by Institchu, complete with nicknames stitched on the inside, too.
A Ceremony Filled with Heart & Humour
Caroline and Kagan’s ceremony was a rollercoaster of emotions from the very start—in the best possible way. There were moments of deep sincerity as they spoke from the heart and moments of pure comedy that had their guests (and each other) in stitches. The ceremony truly reflected them: warm, genuine, and joyful. As they exchanged their vows under the golden summer sky, surrounded by family, friends, and the beauty of the Yarra Valley, there was no doubt—this was a love worth celebrating.
The Reception – Time to Party
They continued celebrating into the evening with Mark Mayer Magical Moments Magic, literally weaving his magic amongst the gasps of guests and Luke Todd Entertainment providing live music, DJ, and MC services. A cloud of dry ice embraced the couple as they engaged in their first dance, followed by a packed dancefloor and a sparkler exit to conclude the evening.
Kagan and Caroline are the sweetest and most appreciative couple. It was an honour to marry them and ensure their guests had a blast, too. They wanted me to stay into the evening, which I can do as your MC and bestie.
Their Love Story
Caroline and Kagan originally met at a mutual friend’s 21st birthday. Although they followed each other on social media, they never really spoke after that, as Kagan was always known as “Caroline’s sister’s friend”. It wasn’t until 2020, during the COVID period, when Car was on the couch swiping through Bumble, and noticed Kagan was already in her list of “Bumble beelines”. Knowing who he was and her being who she is, she likes to swipe on people she already knows as a playful joke. She swiped right, and the journey began.
Caroline’s initial impressions of Kagan were that he was a very extroverted, funny dude who is easy to troll. He was also a bit of a scaredy cat because he told her that he and his friends got terrified watching “The Fourth Kind”. When Caroline went to watch it in the dark, she couldn’t work out what the scary part was.
Kagan’s initial impression of Caroline was that she takes too long to reply, and perhaps she’s low-key serial killer as she would watch all these scary movies.
Their first actual date happened when restrictions allowed people to dine outdoors only at 400 Gradi. It was extremely cold and windy; their food got cold within minutes, and everything was flying all over the place. From there, they went to a park and played 13 until they were supposed to watch a virtual ghost tour. It took a lot of convincing by Caroline. However, this ended up being cancelled. At the end of the night, they got to know each other more and Kagan ended up winning just a couple more games of 13.
When they started dating, Caroline thought Kagan was funny, and she felt at ease and comfortable being herself around him. He also had his life together and gained her attention when he mentioned that his favourite Disney movie was ‘The Lion King.’
Kagan had found a woman who had the same hobbies as him at the time, but he deciphered that she had a big brain and was more intelligent than him.
They got to know each other even more, and everything felt natural and right. Their relationship was easy and joyful.
Kagan proposed In August 2023 on their cat Zelda’s second birthday in their Airport West home. While Caroline was at work, he created a beautiful arrangement in the bedroom, with a big proposal sign, rose-coloured petals in the shape of a heart, and candles surrounding it.
Caroline describes Kagan as calm, positive, and humorous. She loves his respect for her and always supports her goals. He encourages her, is always patient, and never judges her, and at times, it feels like he makes her a better person. He is an easy-going, half-full person, and she loves how they are in sync despite how opposite they may be. He accepts their differences and doesn’t try to change her.
Most importantly, Caroline loves the way Kagan makes her feel loved. Kagan has taught Caroline how to compromise more and be able to stop, pause, and breathe, particularly when she stresses or starts seeing things irrationally and overthinking. He has also taught her how to sit with the uncomfortable more. It’s ok.
Kagan describes Caroline as loving, supportive, and passionate. He loves that she is smart and caring toward their two fur babies. He also loves how funny and super easy-going she is, and their strong connection keeps them in sync. Caroline has taught Kagan to sometimes stop, pause, and breathe, especially when he makes irrational decisions.
Together, they love travelling, cooking, watching their favourite TV shows, going to the movies, concerts and comedy shows, and occasionally playing board games or video games. Communication, ethos, trust, and values are essential in their upcoming marriage.
Caroline and Kagan look forward to becoming one and growing their family, having a honeymoon, having a best friend for life, and committing to the marriage partnership. They also look forward to celebrating more milestones, sharing experiences and memories, and becoming one as a team.
They can’t wait to start a family, travel the world more and start their own business together. And all these goals and future dreams will be achieved as husband and wife.
The Wedding Vows
Caroline’s Vows
Kagan, you are my best friend and lifetime partner in crime.
There are simply not enough words to describe how much it means to me to be standing in front of you and all of our family and friends on our wedding day. I only have Bumble to thank for that, as I ended up winning the jackpot. When we first started talking, I didn’t expect our conversation would go further than a few messages, however, you quickly took the messaging to the next level over the phone, and I was quick to secretly pour myself up to three glasses of wine to ease the nerves. I soon learned how safe and easy it was to be myself around you. Your funny, charming, personality caught me by surprise as we talked for hours, laughing hysterically and trolling each other over the phone. Everything became a competition, and the next thing I knew I grew really fond of you and my heart fell deeply in love with you. It just felt easy. I knew you were the one when you told me your favourite Disney movie was The Lion King.
There are many things I love about you. I love how silly and weird we can be around each other, and how you always allow me to be myself. Your support is unbelievable, as you have the ability to lift my spirits when life becomes overwhelming and offer a different perspective when I need it. You have taught me what it’s like to be truly appreciated and loved in more ways than I can imagine. I love that you are always happy to do things with me (as long as they are not your version of scary), and I also love that we can always have our “me time” and do our own thing. Because of that, I have decided to look past the fact that you are a serial gamer. I truly believe that we have become inseparable over the many years that we have spent together, and I can honestly say that I am marrying my best friend. My love for you only continues to grow stronger and I am excited to walk into the future with you side by side as partners, lovers, best friends, and as husband and wife, – along with our two fur babies Zelda and Link – to write the rest of the pages in our story until we reach the last chapter when we are old and grey.
Today, in front of our family and friends:
I promise to always take care of you, and to be your source of support in times of need. I will always be by your side, your biggest supporter and your biggest fan, and I will always back you the way you do Carlton and the Pelicans.
I promise to give you the best of myself every day and remain the same person you fell in love with.
I promise never to stop being so overly competitive and beating you in thirteen, and I promise that I won’t ask you too many questions when you are playing Valo, Dota, or Rocket League, as I tend to make you die each time.
I promise to cherish every single day that I have with you including the tough phases, to respect you as an equal, to love you unconditionally, and to never take you for granted.
Most importantly, you are my favourite person, and I promise that I will never stop loving you and only you, forever. Together, we can accomplish the life we dream of because we are a team.
Kagan’s Vows
From the very first day, everything just made sense with you. You laughed at all my jokes, even the bad ones, and we instantly bonded over the things we both love, from board games to traveling and just being competitive all around. It was like finding the missing piece I didn’t even know I needed.
We’ve grown so much together, from just two people chatting on Bumble to building a home, adopting our two fur babies, and creating a life full of joy and laughter.
I promise to continue loving you with all my heart and to cherish every moment we have together. I vow always to celebrate the little things and support you in our journey of life.
It’s not easy being the best thing that happened to you, but I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together, facing whatever comes our way. We will handle it like one game at a time. I love you now, and I will love you forever.
