Helping Nat and Nick tie the knot in the Gum Gully Farm Wedding was a wonderfully unforgettable experience.

Located in Silvan in the outer east, Gum Gully Farm is a beautiful, rustic, Melbourne wedding venue to marry.

Again, it’s another wedding ceremony and reception venue within 15 minutes of my home. Sue and Simon have created a unique and breathtaking setting – a Gum Gully Farm wedding is always extraordinary and provides couples with loads of photo opportunities. It is easy to see why Natalie and Nick fell in love with it.

The original plan was for the couple to marry in the garden, but Melbourne’s weather had other ideas. Instead, the ceremony was moved into the exceptional chapel, which is a gorgeous place to marry. Their arbour also looked perfect.

With 2 bridesmaids and 2 groomsmen in position, Natalie walked down the aisle alonside her mum and looked absolutely stunning in her gown. The couple chose to include others in their ceremony. Firstly, 3 of Natalie’s friends form her university days, shared a reading with the guests:

Wedding Reading

I’ll be there my darling, through thick and through thin
When your mind’s in a mess and your head’s in a spin
When your plane’s been delayed, and you’ve missed the last train.
When life is just threatening to drive you insane
When your thrilling whodunit has lost its last page
When somebody tells you, you’re looking your age

When your coffee’s too cool, and your wine is too warm
When the forecast said “Fine”, but you’re out in a storm
When your quick break hotel, turns into a slum
And your holiday photos show only your thumb
When you park for five minutes in a resident’s bay
And return to discover you’ve been towed away
When the jeans that you bought in hope or in haste
Just stick on your hips and don’t reach round your waist
When the food you most like brings you out in red rashes
When as soon as you boot up the bloody thing crashes

So, my darling, my sweetheart, my dear…
When you break a rule, when you act the fool
When you’ve got the flu, when you’re in a stew
When you’re last in the queue, don’t feel blue ’cause
I’m telling you; I’ll be there.

And, secondly, instead of only the parents being involved in supporting the couple, all the guests yelled out, ‘WE DO!’ when I asked who will support their marriage in the years to come.

Their story was communicated, vows and rings exchanged (see below for details), and their union was sealed with a kiss. A petal toss, for the recessional, concluded the ceremony and the group photos and celebrations began. Brendan Creaser Photography was wonderful to work with on the day and provided a highlight package of photos to ALL suppliers within 24 hours… just amazing. How can you not share these remarkable photos of the couple exploring the highlights of the farm?

Thanks to Nat and Nick for having me! So much love and fun for these two. Just check out the photos.

Their Love Story

Natalie and Nick met whilst Nick was living in Perth and was on a course in Melbourne, in early 2017. Then they met on Tinder, another modern-day love story. Natalie immediately noticed that Nick had a fantastic smile and was really engaging in conversation. She felt incredibly comfortable, and Nick found Natalie so incredibly easy to talk to and down to earth.

For their first date, they met for drinks at ‘Welcome to Thornbury’, chatting for so long that they forgot to eat dinner. Then, it was 4 dates in 3 weeks, including the Lego exhibition and French Food and Wine Festival, before Nick went back to Perth. They kept in contact, eventually dating long distance for the next 18 months, frequently traveling between Perth and Melbourne whilst building a relationship. Nick and Natalie met one another’s families, realising that they were onto something good.

In these early stages of dating, Natalie was most impressed with the way that he was he was incredibly considerate and fantastic at communicating. She found him to be both ambitious and capable but also open-minded. Nick was impressed with Natalie’s intelligence, patience, and her care for others. Their relationship developed and they fell in love.

Their Perth Story…

In 2017, on Nat’s first trip to Perth, Nick spent three days showing Nat the cool sights of Perth including Lesmurdie Falls, a hiking spot with great views of the city. It was in 2020, after having lived together in Perth, Nick organised a belated birthday hike for Nat and once again took her to Lesmurdie Falls. After finding a secluded spot and acting awkwardly all morning, Nick asked Nat to marry him. To celebrate, they went to a lovely winery and one of Nat’ favourite restaurants to celebrate.

Natalie describes Nick as kind, loyal, and understanding. She loves how supportive Nick is and how much he cares for not only her, but their family and her friends, too. Nat adores Nick’s humour and willingness to give things a go. She can be completely at ease with him.

Nick describes Natalie as loving, smart, and supportive. He loves everything about her, especially how caring she is, how much she loves their dog and family and how she loves to share experiences together. Once they were camping in WA and a terrible weather front hit the campsite in the night; by the morning they had to pack up the tent and equipment with rain coming in sideways. Instead of getting angry, Nat laughed, and they packed up. This moment sticks with Nick as, whilst he already knew he wanted to marry her, this showed him how great Nat really is.

Together, Nat and Nick love trying different food, enjoying the outdoors, spending time with their dog, and spending time with family and friends. In continuing their relationship in marriage, they know that trust, communication, and teamwork will be key. They look forward to enjoying all the special milestones as a married couple and continuing their journey in life, now as husband and wife. Nick and Nat can’t wait to buy a house and build their life together.

The Wedding Vows

The couple created and wrote their own wedding vows. There were many deep breaths and glassy eyes from Nat and Nick as they exchanged their wedding vows, sharing them with each other for the first time, during the Gum Gully Farm wedding ceremony.

Groom Nick

Natalie, you are amazing.

The first time I met you I was blown away by your intelligence, your smile, and your warmth.
You light up my life and make me want to be the best person I can be. Each day I wake up knowing how lucky I am to be yours. And each day I discover something new about you, and it makes me love you more.
Your support, love, and friendship have made being with you the easiest decision of my life.

I promise to love you, support your aspirations and be the teammate you deserve.
Every test we face, we face together and come out stronger, from being apart for long periods of time to raising our puppy, to camping in a storm.
I can’t wait to continue to build our life together as husband and wife and face every obstacle that life throws at us.

Bride Natalie

Nick, I feel so lucky to be standing here today with you. You are my person.

You make me smile, make me think more deeply and your calm is the perfect antidote to my worries.
I’m so proud of your independence and willingness to give things a go.
I am so grateful for your constant and calming nature. Most of all, I love that you have always been my biggest supporter.
You are not only incredibly considerate of me but those around you.
I can’t wait to make new memories together, as a family, over the rest of our lives.
As we have for each other so far, I promise to always encourage and support your endeavours going forward.
I promise to do my best to make your bad days good ones and comfort you on days that I cannot.

I vow to battle through whatever challenges you may face, by your side.
Importantly, I aim to try to remember each day how fortunate we are.
Thank you for being caring
Thank you for understanding my weird sense of humour
And thank you for being my best friend
I choose you today, tomorrow, and every day for the rest of our lives.
I love you.
