The Melbourne autumn weather was perfect for this celebrant to marry Jade and Darcy in a micro-wedding at the picturesque Marybrooke Manor Wedding venue in the Dandenong Ranges.

Once again, it was another wedding that was re-imagined due to Covid-19 with date changes and rearranging the guest list. And, by embracing these changes it was ensured that Darcy and Jade had a cracker of a Marybrooke Manor wedding ceremony and reception. They were such a fun couple!

Their ceremony was beautiful and intimate, with 40 guests in total! Here’s the lowdown on this gorgeous couple’s Marybrook Manor wedding.

The Wedding Photographer

Working with wedding photographer Matt Hillman (whose own wedding I officiated many moons ago!) from HP Photography was once again a dream; professional, comfortable and talented. The photos are certainly memorable and cherish and highlight the couple and the venue. It was also great to catch up with a former couple I married (with a new bubba!) and one I am to marry in November.

The Wedding Suppliers

Marybrooke Manor is a ‘one stop shop’ when it comes to weddings – indoor and outdoor ceremony spaces, scenic gardens and surrounds, reception venue, and accommodation on site. Perfect for your wedding, hence why Jade and Darcy chose it. Another local supplier, Shayne and the team from Lakeside Flowers created the gorgeous florals and renowned Oleg Cassini provided all the girls dresses – worn beautifully of course. Tarocash fitted out the boys.

The Review

“Julie is absolutely amazing! She is warm, down to earth and made the experience a little more fun! Our guests loved the ceremony and the entertainment that Julie brought to our day. So far I have recommended her to another 3 of my friends and will continue to do so haha! Thank you Julie for all of your hard work, my husband and I are grateful for everything you have done for us.”

Their Love Story

Marybrooke Manor Wedding Celebrant

Darcy and Jade met online in August 2012, way back before tinder was even a thing! Jade’s first impression of Darcy was that he was very funny, charming and good looking whilst Darcy thought Jade was cute, chatty and outgoing. Their first date was to the Coffee Club at Knox. It went for nearly 6 hours because they were talking so much. Darcy walked Jade to her car, and they shared a sneaky kiss.

When they first started dating Jade was impressed by how hard-working Darcy was, he was also very kind and would do absolutely anything for the people in his life that he cares about. Darcy was impressed by how driven Jade was and that she just got along with everyone in his life very easily.

Neither of them can pinpoint a time that they fell in love, it just happened naturally. Jade and Darcy clicked straight away and from the moment they met their lives became only about each other and the things that we wanted to do together. Their relationship developed and proposal ensued.

Darcy proposed to Jade in October 2018, in Sorrento in Italy. Jade remembers it was nearly the end of their trip and Jade was feeling really down because she knew the trip would be over soon and Darcy hadn’t proposed yet; she had convinced herself that it wasn’t going to happen.

They went out for dinner, ordering an enormous calzone, and Darcy kept hassling Jade to take photos of everything, quite strange. They went for a romantic walk in a courtyard that overlooks the beach and the peninsula and is completely lit up at night. Darcy was still hassling about the photos, normally it is she who is the photographer in the relationship.

They sat down on a bench in the middle of the courtyard, admiring the view and discussing future house plans. Darcy assured her, ‘Don’t worry, we will get a plan together, and the plan starts right now’. Jade turned around and saw him on one knee with a ring and started bawling her eyes out; a good, hard power cry! She could not believe it. Once she eventually stopped crying, she finally said yes, and now here we are today. Because Darcy kept asking Jade to take photos, she now has a memorable photo timeline of the entire night, inclusive of the calzone, so she will be able to remember it forever, all part of Darcy’s plan.

Darcy describes Jade as goofy, loud and clumsy. He loves that she is willing to have a go at just about anything, except if it is up high or heavy! Jade is easy company and good to have a laugh with.

Jade says Darcy is also loud, confident and easy-going. She loves that he can always make her laugh no matter what, supports her in anything that she wants to do and makes her feel more confident in herself.

Together, they love to travel and take Ted (their labrador) on walks or for a swim in the river. Essentially, spending time together, doing anything is better than doing it individually. Patience, teamwork and a free exchange of ideas are important elements they will bring to their marriage, and they can’t wait to start a family and open the next chapter of their lives together.

The Wedding Vows

Jade and Darcy kept their vows short and sweet, knowing they could manage them with ease on the day. Emotions can be quite overwhelming on the day so make sure your vows represent who you are and that you are comfortable reading them.

Darcy’s Vows:

I declare my love for you. I invited you to share my life as my wife. I promise to always respect your needs and accept you as you are. I will be kind, unselfish and trusting. I will work for a happy life for both of us.

Jade’s Vows:

You are my best friend and one of my favourite pests. You are my strength, my partner in life and my one true love. I love you more each day than I did the day before. I will trust you and respect you, laugh with you and cry with you, loving you through good times and bad, regardless of the obstacles we may face together. I give you my hand, my heart, and my love, from this day forward as long as we both shall live.

When they finally married, it was picture perfect for Jade and Darcy; a wedding that incorporated their closest friends, family and favourite suppliers. I wish them all the best in married life.
