The Ceremony

Sarah was tasked with checking me out as a celebrant and making contact. I was Jordy’s teacher and careers advisor in the last few years of high school, and he had seen me at a few weddings. Cue a Zoom call, a chat, and a catch-up, and I was booked.

Sarah and Jordy’s ceremony blended the traditional with the modern. It focused on the love they shared, their journey thus far, the vows they exchanged, and the importance of great friends and family (not to mention their fur baby, Aggie). Always Eventive spectacularly styled the space and the ceremony was moved indoors due to the weather.

The modern-day element was recognised through a first look, including confetti canons upon the exit, their gorgeous fur baby, and the groomsmen commencing the processional by handing out jelly shots to the guests and making a mighty entrance.

The Details

When you look at the stunning photos by Tamara Little Photography, you would never know that Melbourne had the coldest and worst spring weather in over twenty years on their wedding day! Wind, rain, hail, thunderstorms and sun, you name it, we had it.

It certainly proves that choosing a highly professional photographer for your wedding day is paramount.

Their Love Story

Sarah and Jordy met at the 18th birthday party of a mutual friend (shout out to Pierce) in February 2015. Sarah thought Jordy was a kind and warm person with an aura about him. She felt an instant connection and remembered thinking that, for some reason, they were meant to be and would be together.

For Jordy, Sarah was someone he instantly connected with from the very beginning. He was captivated by her unpretentious personality.

Their first date, a beautiful burger date at Yo My Goodness, was a significant moment in their relationship. Jordy and Sarah were both at ease with each other. There was comfortable conversation, and the inside banter began to flow effortlessly.

In these early stages of dating, Sarah discovered Jordy’s unique qualities. He had a quirky, funny personality complemented by the most beautiful soul. With a gentleman-like disposition, he treated her and everyone around him respectfully. He had an infectious, positive energy that would make Sarah feel warm and happy even on a bad day. Jordy was the guy who stacked his dishes after he was done eating to make life easier for the staff and would also be sure to push in a chair before leaving somewhere.

Jordy was primarily impressed by Sarah’s authenticity. She didn’t need to change or adjust her behaviours or personality to impress him or be someone she was not. She was her true self. He thinks Sarah noticed that she could be herself around Jordy from early on, and he couldn’t appreciate her more for doing so.

Sarah can’t recall the specific moment she fell in love with Jordy, but she knows it was damn quick, and there were very strong feelings very early on. She was in love watching his personality come out in day-to-day life, seeing him care for those around him, his laugh, and making Sarah and others laugh, too. She discovered more love when she watched Jordy interact with his family and her family and friends.

Likewise, Jordy knew he fell in love with Sarah early on when they returned to a friend’s house. They talked and laughed for hours on end into the early morning, and he couldn’t stop staring at her (in a non-creepy manner). Jordy was fascinated by her smile and her laugh. Immersed at the moment, he was thinking of their future and hoping he would someday be able to have Sarah forever by his side.

Four years after they first met, in 2019, Jordy proposed to Sarah at Radii Restaurant.

Sarah describes Jordy as thoughtful, witty and lively. She loves that Jordy doesn’t take life too seriously and has a contagious positive attitude. He is loyal, always puts others before himself, and makes her feel special and unconditionally loved.

Jordy has taught Sarah to believe in herself and to be herself. She can achieve anything and move out of her comfort zone to live life fully. She’s learnt never to be afraid to stand up for what she believes in and not to let anyone bring her down. Jordy has also taught her it’s important to laugh, make others laugh, and always push her chair in when she’s done eating.

Jordy describes Sarah as unselfish, sensitive and irreplaceable. He loves how much fun she can make out of nothing. She’s reliable, trustworthy, and just bloody darn right gorgeous. She is a perfect soulmate and match for Jordy, as he had never been able to be his true self until Sarah came along.

 She has taught Jordy to be open about his feelings and how to communicate them rather than shutting down. Even when you’re always positive and happy, there are also challenging days when having a loving partner there for you is simply enough. Sarah has encouraged Jordy to bring a balance of masculinity and femininity into his life and to always double-check that someone’s seat is pushed in after eating.

Sarah and Jordy love being adventurous, trying new experiences, and travelling to new places. They also enjoy spending time at home together, watching movies, relaxing and hanging out with their fur babies.

In a successful marriage, they know that continued trust, honesty, and communication are vital. Sarah looks forward to referring to Jordy as her husband and to being officially and legally locked in for life. Similarly, Jordy looks forward to calling Sarah his wifey without adding the whisper of… soon and being locked in as one, bringing them a token of unity.

They’re excited for today’s wedding to celebrate their triumphs, all they have achieved as a couple, and the chapters of their lives that are yet to be written. They couldn’t be more thrilled to share this occasion with all their family and friends and have them witness their commitment to each other.

Jordy and Sarah can’t wait to party with you all into the evening, keep exploring the world together, create happy memories, and start their own family one day. As of today, Sarah, all this will be achieved, finally, as husband and wife.

The Wedding Vows

Jordy’s Vows

Sarah, you truly know everything about me and yet here you are standing in front of me still after all these years.

But today I get to marry you, my best friend. The woman who saw the brightest in me in my darkest days. The woman I fell in love with enough to drive a couple of hours to LaTrobe Uni for a 30-minute lunch break together. Then, just sneak into a lecture so that we could be around each other for longer. There was something there from the start; quite frankly, I couldn’t get enough of you.

You always inspire me to be the best version of myself, and I see you doing your best for everyone else daily.

I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you, through all the highs and all the lows.

I promise to be the best husband I can be and the best father to our children.

I promise to always be there for you, with open arms or a shoulder to lean on.

I promise to steal all your snacks, but I’ll always make sure there’s at least one left for you.

I promise to always tell you how much I love you and appreciate all you do for me no matter how big or small.

I promise to always give you 3 kisses before heading out or before heading to bed, so we know we are in a good place.

There is a specific meaning to the phrase I love you the mostest. It doesn’t just mean I love you more, It means you are a part of my heart, and no arguments, actions, or behaviours will ever change how much I love you…the mostest.

Sarah’s Vows

Jordan Paul,

Eight years, a rental house we call home and two cute fur babies later, we finally made it to this all-anticipated perfect moment together, surrounded by all our favourite people and families.

PS I am glad you remembered the time and date.

I was definitely sceptical of love at first sight, but you proved me wrong. Our worlds collided at the most unexpected time, and all it took was one moment. Ever since  my heart has been falling in love with you more and more.

You often hear people say you should find someone you want to grow old with, I say scrap that and find someone to stay young with, someone you can’t bear the thought of living without. I have found that in you.

Anyone who does not know the real us would be appalled with the way we playfully haul insults and jokes at each other, but this is my favourite part of our relationship, spending each day laughing with my best friend. I love just doing life with you and all the little moments.

Moments where folding washing turns into sock fights, spontaneous dance parties in the kitchen, the way you forget dates and plans as if I’m already married to a senile elderly man and our delirious episodes where neither one of us can get a word in between belly, laughs.

I know regardless of what life and our future brings you’ll be there to laugh with me, support me if I need to cry through it and celebrate the highs with me.

You have shown me a love that is so true filled with honesty, support for each other, healthy communication, trust and respect. I will never be able to thank you enough for the amount of unconditional love, happiness, positivity and laughter you have brought and continue to bring into my life. I don’t know how else to say it, but you honestly just make my heart so happy.

To you I make these promises:

I promise to always have as much dedication, love and passion for this relationship as you do for golf

I promise to not only celebrate the highs with you but also to be your unrelenting cheer squad on the days it feels too much

Jordy and Sarah’s Yarra Valley wedding ceremony and reception were great.

It’s always wonderful to officiate at the ceremonies of my former students and see their life now.
