The Mornington Wedding Expo has been a long-running favourite on the wedding calendar, and it’s easy to see why.
It’s the kind of event that feels warm the moment you walk in. Smaller, more intimate and absolutely not the sort of expo where you get swept along in a giant crowd trying to remember who you spoke to five minutes ago.
This one keeps things calm, personal and pleasantly human.
The expo pulls together a brilliant mix of wedding suppliers from the Mornington Peninsula, Gippsland, the Yarra Valley and Melbourne.
It’s a real snapshot of talent from right across the region. Celebrants, florists, stylists, venues, musicians, photographers, cake makers – you name it, you’ll find a friendly face happy to chat through ideas with you. None of the hard sell. Just genuine people who love what they do.
One of the best parts is the atmosphere. You get couples at all stages of their engagement, but this year there were heaps of freshly engaged legends dreaming about a 2027 celebration. They wandered through with their coffees, taking it all in, asking questions and getting a feel for what kind of wedding they want.
For anyone just starting out and feeling a bit wide-eyed about the whole “planning a wedding” thing, this expo is a perfect starting point. It’s relaxed, inspiring and wonderfully practical. You walk away with clarity instead of chaos.
And because they love spoiling the crowd, the organisers always put on plenty of prizes and giveaways. It adds a bit of fun to the day and gives couples a chance to score something lovely for their wedding journey.
For me, being part of these smaller expos is such a joy. I get to talk properly with couples instead of yelling over a sea of people. I get to hear their stories, their early ideas, their worries and their excitement. It’s a reminder of why I adore being a celebrant and MC. People are at their very beginning, and I get to help make the whole thing feel less overwhelming and a lot more doable.
